Because things have moved a bit. TCS, Infosys, HCLTech and Tech Mahindra all have campuses inside MIHAN SEZ now. Maharashtra's GCC Policy 2025 actually names Nagpur as a city it wants new capability centres in. And DevOps, more than most tech jobs, is work you can eventually do from anywhere.

Nagpur IT Reality: Why DevOps Training in Nagpur Makes Sense Now
Four kinds of people usually land on a page like this one.
Final-year students and fresh graduates
You're at VNIT, RCOEM, YCCE, Raisoni, KDK or Priyadarshini, or you passed out last year. Maybe a MIHAN company gave you an offer letter and a joining date that keeps getting pushed. Maybe nothing yet. Your resume probably has the same projects as your batchmates': a library system, a weather app, something with a login page.
Recruiters see hundreds of those. They see very few freshers who can open a laptop and walk through a Kubernetes cluster they built themselves, broke, and then fixed. That's the gap we go after. You finish with five projects running on AWS, all on GitHub, most with a link that opens.
Students from the rest of Vidarbha
Amravati, Wardha, Chandrapur, Akola, Yavatmal. A lot of people came to Nagpur for college and now wonder if Pune is the only way forward. Pune is expensive. It's also an overnight train away, and that matters more than people admit when parents are getting older.

Engineers from power plants, mines and MIDC units
This group gets overlooked, and I think it shouldn't.
If you're an electrical or mechanical engineer at Koradi or Khaparkheda, at a WCL site, or on a line in Butibori or Hingna, you already know things software freshers don't. You've done shift handovers. You've watched alarm screens at 3 AM. You've filled a permit-to-work before touching anything live, and you've sat in the meeting after a trip where everyone wants to know what failed and why.
Software operations teams do exactly this, with different names: on-call, dashboards, change requests, post-mortems. You'll still start with Linux basics, and Git will irritate you for a week or two. The habits, though, you already have.
MIHAN support staff, and people who came back from Pune
L1 or L2 support on rotating shifts, closing tickets for systems somebody else built. Or three years in Pune and then home, because of family, or rent, or both.
What's missing in either case is the building part. Docker, Terraform, pipelines. Once you can build the thing you've been supporting, your CV reads very differently.

DevOps Jobs in Nagpur: MIHAN SEZ, IT Park Parsodi and Who Hires
MIHAN SEZ
Almost everyone's first answer, and fair enough. TCS, Infosys, HCLTech and Tech Mahindra have campuses inside the SEZ, GlobalLogic sits in SP Infocity, and Hexaware operates in the city as well. Hiring mostly happens through campus and off-campus drives: an aptitude test, a technical round, then HR.
The DevOps work is usually on client accounts. Keeping Jenkins pipelines alive, moving applications to AWS or Azure, release weekends. Interviewers here aren't hunting for fancy tools. They'd rather hear you explain how you'd find out why a server's disk filled up overnight.
If you've never sat through one of these drives, the pattern is fairly predictable. An online aptitude test first, with quant, logic and some English. Sometimes a short coding round with easy problems. Then a technical interview, usually 20 to 40 minutes, covering Linux commands, basic networking, a little cloud, and whatever is on your resume. That last part is where most freshers lose it, because they can't explain their own projects in any depth. HR comes after that and is mostly about joining dates and relocation.
MIHAN also isn't only IT. The same zone has the airport, logistics firms, pharma units and an aircraft maintenance facility, and all of them run software that someone has to keep up.
IT Park, Parsodi
Near VNIT. Older than MIHAN and busier than it looks from the road. Persistent Systems is the big name; the rest are mid-sized software companies. Smaller teams, fewer candidates per opening, and interviews that spend longer on how you think.
Companies that started in Nagpur
InfoCepts, which does data and analytics work, and Click2Cloud, which builds cloud products, both grew out of this city. In teams that size, one DevOps person often ends up owning the pipeline, the cloud account and the monitoring. It's a lot. You learn fast.
Dharampeth, Civil Lines, Ramdaspeth
Mostly agencies and small software shops. Fine for a first developer job. Pure DevOps roles are rarer here, so think of it as a way in.
What might change
The state's GCC policy wants 400 new capability centres across Maharashtra and specifically mentions Nagpur, Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for expansion. Whether Nagpur gets ten of those or forty, nobody knows yet. What we do know: new centres hire infrastructure people early, since nothing else can run until the cloud setup exists.

DevOps Engineer Salary in Nagpur (2026)

IT freshers at MIHAN companies usually start somewhere around ₹3–5 LPA. Developers with three to five years tend to be in the ₹6–12 LPA range. One job portal puts Nagpur salaries 20–35% below Mumbai, with living costs 40–50% lower. None of this is exciting, but it's closer to what your friends are actually being paid than the numbers you'll see on most course websites.
For DevOps specifically, there isn't enough Nagpur data to be precise, so treat the table as a rough guide. At entry level DevOps pays about the same as other IT roles. The difference shows up around year two or three, once Kubernetes and Terraform are on your CV and you've handled production.

A small tip. Before you accept anything, ask what a normal Tuesday looks like in that job. In Nagpur a "DevOps Engineer" title can mean manual deployments and night support, or it can mean you actually own pipelines and cloud infrastructure. Only the second one grows your salary. Nagpur, Pune or Remote: Where Should You Start in DevOps?
Pune has more openings. Many more. It also pays better at every level, so if you're a fresher and nothing is holding you in Nagpur, it's probably the faster start.
But look at the money properly before you book the ticket. These are rough figures:

So the "Pune pays more" argument isn't as simple for a fresher as it sounds. It changes after two years. Someone who has actually run EKS clusters in production and written Terraform for real can negotiate hard in Pune, or skip moving altogether and go after remote jobs.
One more practical thing. If you do plan to move, try to line up the Pune job while you're still in Nagpur. Interviews for most DevOps roles happen over video now, and searching from home, with no rent running, gives you the patience to turn down a weak first offer.
Remote needs its own warning. Remote employers rarely hire complete freshers. They want people who write clearly, raise tidy pull requests, and can fix a live problem on a call without a senior sitting next to them. They also dig much deeper into Kubernetes than a MIHAN campus drive will. Plan for remote as a second step.

What a normal week looks like
Saturday's class introduces something new, say Docker networking, and you get a lab task the same day. That evening is when it breaks on your machine, which is the point. Sunday's class starts with those breakages, because usually three or four people hit the same wall, and then moves on. Over the week you finish the assignment, and I review it, with written comments, before the next weekend.
The practice is spread across the week in between, which is where most of the learning happens.
A warning about week five or so. That's roughly when Kubernetes shows up, and nearly everybody wobbles. It's normal. The people who get through it are the ones who keep turning up to class even when they feel lost, not the ones who were quickest in week one.
Online vs classroom DevOps classes in Nagpur
If you're comparing institutes, ask one question and don't accept a vague answer: how many students in a batch? "Small batch" has meant everything from eight to forty in conversations I've had.
It matters because DevOps is learned by breaking things. Your pod keeps crashing, your Terraform plan wants to destroy something it shouldn't. With fifteen people I can actually look at your screen and fix it with you. With forty, the trainer shows the answer once and moves on.
There's also the small matter of Nagpur in May. Not commuting across the city in 45 degrees to sit in a classroom is a perk nobody puts on a brochure.

You won't spend time on Puppet, Chef or Nagios. They still appear on some older syllabi, but very few current job ads ask for them, and the hours are better spent on Kubernetes and Terraform, which almost every ad does ask for.
Some Nagpur listings ask for Azure. We teach AWS first because it's still the most requested cloud, and the advanced level covers Azure deployment basics. Pipelines and Terraform work the same way on both, so switching later takes weeks, not months. The AWS vs Azure vs GCP comparison has details.
You'll use GenAI tools throughout, mainly to draft Terraform, write Dockerfiles and make sense of failed pipeline logs. They get things wrong often, and very confidently, so a good part of the skill is catching that. More on the GenAI module, and the full syllabus is on the DevOps curriculum page.
Real AWS DevOps Projects for Your Nagpur Interview Portfolio
There are five, and each one goes on your GitHub.
The first is a shopping app split across EC2, RDS and S3, with a load balancer in front. It sounds basic. It covers most of what a MIHAN technical round asks about AWS. Next comes a blog broken into four microservices with its own database and cache, all run through Docker Compose, which gives you something concrete when an interviewer says "microservices" and waits.
The third is small: a portfolio site that redeploys itself through GitHub Actions to S3 and CloudFront, with a proper domain and SSL. People underrate it, but you can pull it up on your phone halfway through an interview.
Project four is a REST API that Jenkins builds, tests and ships to EKS, including a rollback when things fail. Jenkins is still everywhere in Nagpur's service companies, so interviewers usually spend the longest here. The fifth, the capstone, ties it together: Terraform for the infrastructure, Jenkins deploying to EKS, Prometheus and Grafana watching, Trivy scanning images. That's the one you walk a product or remote panel through from start to end.
You'll also learn to tear the whole setup down and rebuild it with one Terraform command, which keeps costs near zero and makes for a nice moment the night before an interview.
What You Need Before You Start
A laptop with 8 GB RAM. With 4 GB, tell us when you join and you'll use a cloud sandbox instead. Decent internet, though a hotspot is fine when the power goes. And six to eight hours a week outside class, which is the part people underestimate. Those who can't find the time don't usually fail; they just take twice as long.
Plant and mine engineers, expect the monitoring weeks to feel familiar and Git, YAML and cloud networking to feel foreign at first. Put your energy there.
For people on rotating shifts, a week that works might look like this: the recording on your first day off, an hour of lab practice on two other days, and a Slack message whenever you get stuck instead of waiting for the next class. It's slower than attending every session live, but plenty of people finish this way. What doesn't work is saving everything for one long Sunday.
If your schooling was in Hindi or Marathi medium, don't let that stop you. The English you need is commands, error messages and documentation, and it repeats a lot. Classes are in English because interviews are. In doubt sessions you can ask in Hindi. कुछ अटके तो हिंदी में पूछ लीजिए।
You don't need to know coding. You'll write shell scripts and read YAML, which is less scary than it sounds. If you only want a certificate for an appraisal and don't plan to build the projects, a cheaper self-paced course is a better fit. From outside IT altogether? Start with switching to DevOps from a non-IT background.
