Phase 3 is being planned with GCDA as an AI township. Kerala has a draft GCC policy and a stated ambition of well over a hundred capability centres by 2031.
And yet, if you sit inside a Kakkanad office today, you probably know someone doing the same work in Bangalore for noticeably more money.
So the question is not really whether to learn DevOps. It is which door you want it to open. From Kochi you have four: a better role at Infopark or SmartCity, a move to Bangalore, a remote job for a company somewhere else, or the Gulf. This page is about all four.

Kochi IT Reality: Why DevOps Training in Kochi Makes Sense Now
People arrive at this page from four fairly different places.
Fresh out of a KTU college
CUSAT, RSET, FISAT, SCMS, Model Engineering, MEC, TKM, or one of the many others. Maybe a service company gave you an offer and a joining date that keeps sliding. Maybe you are still applying and getting nothing back.
The thing that changes a fresher CV in Kochi is not more certificates. It is five projects that actually run on AWS, with repos an interviewer can open. Most freshers can name Docker. Very few can show a cluster they built, broke and repaired themselves.
Already working at an Infopark company
Two to five years in Java, .NET, testing or support, at one of the Kakkanad campuses. You have watched the DevOps team next to you handle releases and wondered how they got there.
This is the group I would tell to pay attention, because in Kochi the internal move is often easier than switching companies. Service companies are constantly short of people who can handle pipelines, and they would rather retrain someone who already knows the client and the codebase. There are practical steps further down this page.
Working in the Gulf and thinking about the next step
A lot of Malayali engineers in the UAE, Saudi, Qatar and Oman are in IT support, networking or system administration. The work is steady. The growth, after a point, is not.
DevOps is one of the better exits from that, whether you want to move up where you are or eventually come home to a remote or Kochi role. And practically speaking, the classes run on Saturday and Sunday, which in the UAE is your weekend, so you can attend live instead of catching up on recordings.
Back home, or never left
You worked in Bangalore and came back. Or you stayed, and the plan is to keep staying. Either way, remote work is the route that matters most for you, and it becomes realistic after a year or two of hands-on experience. There is an honest comparison further down.

DevOps Jobs in Kochi: Infopark, SmartCity and Who Actually Hires
Infopark Phase 1 and 2, Kakkanad
The centre of everything. TCS, Cognizant, Wipro and UST all run operations here, and IBS Software, which is headquartered at Infopark, builds SaaS platforms for aviation, travel and logistics clients worldwide. Around them sit several hundred smaller firms.
The big names hire through structured drives: a test, a technical round, HR. Smaller companies hire when a project lands, often through referrals, and they move fast when they find someone who can genuinely handle infrastructure.
SmartCity Kochi
A separate campus from Infopark, with its own mix of tenants. Worth checking current occupants directly on their site rather than trusting any list, including ours, because the tenant mix has changed more than once.
Product companies and the startup base
IBS Software is the obvious one, and it is a genuinely good place to learn: real scale, real reliability requirements. Beyond that, there is an active startup base around Kakkanad and Kalamassery through Kerala Startup Mission. Small teams, so one person often owns the pipeline, the cloud account and the on-call phone.
The internal move, which nobody writes about
Here is something that gets left out of every course page in this city. In Kochi, more people become DevOps engineers by moving inside their current company than by changing employers.
If you are already at an Infopark company, the path usually looks like this. Get yourself on the release rota, even for boring releases. Volunteer when someone says the Jenkins job is broken again. Do an AWS certification and tell your manager you did. Then ask, plainly, to be considered when the DevOps team next has a gap. Managers in service companies generally prefer training someone who already knows the client over hiring a stranger.
Worth knowing: an internal move often comes with a smaller immediate raise than a job switch. It also comes with far less risk, and the market rate catches up at your next appraisal cycle or your next company.
One more thing about Infopark that helps when you are job hunting: the campuses are dense. Thapasya, Athulya, Vismaya, Carnival, Lulu Cyber Tower and the L&T and Brigade buildings sit within walking distance of each other, which is why word of mouth moves so fast there. A friend hearing about an opening two floors away is a genuinely common way people get interviews in Kakkanad.
What is being built
Phase 3 with GCDA is real but early, and Kerala's GCC policy was still in draft when this page was last updated. Treat both as direction of travel, not as jobs that exist today. What they do suggest is that infrastructure and cloud people will be needed here before product teams scale.

DevOps Engineer Salary in Kochi (2026)
The honest answer is that the range in Kochi is unusually wide, and anyone quoting you a single confident number is guessing.
Payscale puts the average base salary for a DevOps engineer in Kochi at roughly ₹9.2 lakh, but the same data shows the 10th percentile near ₹2.9 lakh and the 90th near ₹20 lakh. One job board estimates Kochi DevOps roles at ₹5.4–8.6 lakh. A Kerala-focused salary guide starts freshers at about ₹3.5 lakh. Meanwhile, actual listings on job sites include Kochi DevOps roles at ₹10,000–25,000 a month for people with under two years of experience.
All of those can be true at once, because "DevOps engineer" in Kochi covers three very different jobs: a support-adjacent role at a small firm, a proper platform role at a product company, and a remote role paid at another city's rates. Which one you get matters more than which city you are in.

Before you accept anything, ask what the role involves on an ordinary day. If the answer is mostly restarting servers and closing tickets, the title will not help your next salary much. Kochi, Bangalore, Remote or the Gulf: Which Route Makes Sense?

Kochi. Lower pay, but also lower costs, shorter commutes and teams that do not churn every six months. If you are living at home, the amount you actually save can beat a bigger number in Bangalore. The risk is choosing the wrong employer and spending three years doing work that does not grow you.
Bangalore. More openings than everywhere else combined, and the fastest salary growth. It costs rent, travel and a fair bit of energy. It is the clearest choice for freshers who want product-company or SRE careers and have nothing tying them to Kerala. Our DevOps course in Bangalore page covers that market.
Remote. The best of both, and the hardest to get first. Remote employers want people who write clearly, raise clean pull requests and can debug a live problem on a call without a senior beside them. They test Kubernetes harder than a local drive would. Kerala candidates often do well here precisely because written English is a strength. Read remote DevOps jobs from India before you build a plan around it.
The Gulf. Real demand exists. UAE and Saudi employers hiring DevOps people generally ask for AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD, which is what this course covers. Beyond that, I would be careful with anyone who quotes you a number. What you will earn in Dubai or Riyadh depends on the employer, the visa, whether family is with you, and how the package is structured. Classes run on Saturday and Sunday, 3 hours each, and a new batch starts every Sunday.
For Gulf-based learners it depends on your weekend. In the UAE the weekend is Saturday and Sunday, so both classes fall on your days off. In Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, Saturday is usually off but Sunday is a working day, so check the Sunday class against your hours before you join. Every session is recorded for the weeks it clashes.
A normal week
Monday introduces something, say Docker networking, and you get a lab task the same evening. Tuesday it breaks on your machine. That is not a failure, it is the actual lesson. Wednesday's class usually starts with those breakages, because three or four people hit the same wall. Thursday you submit the week's work and I review it with written comments before we move on.
A warning about week five or thereabouts. Kubernetes arrives and almost everyone wobbles. The people who come through it are the ones who keep showing up while confused, not the ones who were fastest in week one.
Online vs classroom DevOps classes in Kochi
Kochi has decent classroom institutes, including one operating from inside Infopark, and if being in a room with others is how you learn, that is a fair reason to choose one.
Ask them one question first, and do not settle for a vague answer: how many students in a batch? "Small batch" has meant anything from eight to forty in conversations I have had. With DevOps it matters more than in most subjects, because you learn by breaking your own setup. With fifteen people I can look at your screen and fix your error with you. At forty, the trainer demonstrates once and moves on.

Azure shows up often in Kochi listings and even more in Gulf ones. We teach AWS first because it is still the most requested, and the advanced level covers Azure deployment basics. Pipelines, Terraform and containers work the same on both, so the second cloud takes weeks rather than months. There is detail in the AWS vs Azure vs GCP comparison.
You will not spend time on Puppet, Chef or Nagios. They still appear on some syllabi around, but hardly any current Kochi job ad asks for them, and those hours are better spent on Kubernetes and Terraform, which nearly all of them do ask for.
GenAI tools run through the course too, mostly for drafting Terraform, writing Dockerfiles and making sense of failed pipeline logs. They are confidently wrong often enough that spotting it is part of the skill. More on the GenAI module, and the full syllabus is on the DevOps curriculum page.
Real AWS DevOps Projects for Your Kochi Interview Portfolio
Five projects, each ending up on your GitHub.
You start with a shopping app split across EC2, RDS and S3 behind a load balancer. Plain, but it covers most of what an Infopark technical round asks about AWS. Then a blog broken into four microservices with a database and cache, run through Docker Compose, which gives you something real to point at when an interviewer says the word and waits.
The third is small and surprisingly useful: a portfolio site that redeploys itself through GitHub Actions to S3 and CloudFront, with a proper domain and SSL. You can open it on your phone mid-interview.
Fourth is a REST API that Jenkins builds, tests and ships to EKS, rollback included. Jenkins is still everywhere in Kochi's service companies, so this is usually where the questions go longest. The capstone pulls it together: Terraform for the infrastructure, Jenkins deploying to EKS, Prometheus and Grafana watching it, Trivy scanning images. That is the one you walk a product company or a remote panel through end to end.
If you are planning an internal move rather than a job switch, the capstone has a second use. Showing your own manager a working pipeline you built is a much stronger argument than asking to be moved.
You will also learn to tear the whole setup down and rebuild it with one Terraform command, which keeps your AWS bill near zero between interviews.
What You Need Before You Start
A laptop with 8 GB RAM makes the Docker and Kubernetes weeks bearable. With 4 GB, say so when you enrol and you will work on a cloud sandbox. Reasonable internet for live classes. And six to eight hours a week outside class, which is the part people underestimate.
Classes and doubt support are in English. That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation, since interviews, documentation and remote work all happen in English, and it is an area where Kerala candidates tend to be strong already.
For Gulf-based learners: attend live if your schedule allows, since recordings are useful but you lose the part where I fix your error on the call. If your work week makes that impossible, tell us at the demo and we will suggest which batch fits.
You do not need a coding background. Shell scripts and YAML, mostly. If what you actually want is a certificate for an appraisal and you do not intend to build anything, a cheaper self-paced course is a better use of your money. From outside IT entirely? Start with switching to DevOps from a non-IT background.
DevOps Placement Support for Kochi, Remote and Gulf Roles
Three different kinds of preparation, because the routes really are different.
For Kochi roles: an ATS-friendly resume using the words local job ads use, Naukri and LinkedIn set up properly, and practice for structured drives at the big campuses. For internal moves: how to have the conversation with your manager, what to show them, and when to ask. For remote and Gulf applications: a CV format that survives an international screen, and practice for interviews that go deeper on Kubernetes and expect you to explain your reasoning out loud.
A practical note on notice periods, since it catches people out. Most Kochi service companies run 60 or 90 days. Remote and product employers often want someone in 30. Start your applications while you are still learning rather than after you finish, and be upfront about your notice period in the first call instead of the fourth.
